Stuffed Brinjal Or Bharwa Baingan Recipe

Stuffed Brinjal Or  Bharwa Baingan Recipe

Stuffed brinjal, also known as Bharwa Baingan, is a popular dish in Indian cuisine. It typically involves stuffing small brinjals (eggplants) with a mixture of spices, herbs, and sometimes ground meat, before cooking them in a sauce.

Here's a recipe to make stuffed brinjal:

Ingredients:

- 8 small brinjals (eggplants)

- 1 onion, finely chopped

- 2 cloves of garlic, minced

- 1 teaspoon grated ginger

- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

- 1 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1 teaspoon garam masala

- 1 teaspoon red chili powder

- 1 tablespoon oil

- Salt, to taste

- Cilantro leaves, for garnishing

Instructions:

1. Wash the brinjals and remove the stems. Cut a cross in the bottom of each brinjal without cutting through the top.

2. In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.

3. Add the onions, garlic, and ginger to the pan and cook until the onions turn translucent.

4. Add the coriander powder, garam masala, and red chili powder to the pan and cook for a minute.

5. Stuff the brinjals with the onion-spice mixture, using a small spoon or your fingers to push the mixture into the brinjals.

6. Heat some oil in a pan and place the stuffed brinjals in the pan. Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the brinjals are browned on all sides.

7. Add 1/2 cup of water to the pan and cover it. Cook for another 10-15 minutes or until the brinjals are soft and tender.

8. Garnish with cilantro leaves and serve hot with rice or flatbread.

Enjoy your stuffed brinjals!
